MOVING HOME

How can I transfer my mortgage when moving?
There are two main options:

  1. Porting your mortgage – This means taking your current mortgage with you to your new home. If your new property is more expensive, you may be able to borrow the difference from your existing lender (subject to credit and affordability). Sometimes this can be more costly than switching.

  2. Switching to a new lender – If it saves you money, your advisor may recommend moving to a new lender. If you’re on a variable or tracker rate, this is often easier as there may be no early repayment charges.

What extra costs should I expect when moving?
Common fees include:

  • Estate agent fees (if selling)

  • Legal fees for selling and buying

  • Stamp Duty (if applicable)

  • Moving costs (removals, vans, storage)

Will you guide me through the best option?
Absolutely. We’ll compare both routes, explain the costs clearly, and find the mortgage solution that works best for you.

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage
